It was so humbling to hear the women's stories at Church on Sunday. BIG stories about how they keep on praying; giving thanks ; and rejoicing always in the various circumstances and challenges of their lives. Lydia's challenge to "change the channel" in our thought lives, to make the conscious decision to pray, find joy and give thanks, has stuck with me this week.
On Sunday the electrics in the house all fused, and we realised the washing machine that had been making unusual noises, had now finally stopped working. Sad news for me - I love my washing machine! Yes it's perhaps a little-known thing about me, but getting through the washing is kind of a hobby for me. I'm a bit lost without it.
Good news we're covered for repairs...bad news, they'll come out in 8 days time!
SO...an opportunity (in all the day-to-day, ordinary irritations of life) to change the channel; to choose to give thanks, rejoice and pray.
Also a great opportunity to ask for help from others!
So these last few days, we've been delivering bags of dirty clothes to various friends.
It's good for me to ask for help.
It's good for me to wait.
It's good for me to learn, as well as try to live out this week's verse.
Funny thing is, one friend sent me a sweet text that thanked me for letting her help me!
