Activate

Unique's book club Activate are meeting again this Saturday evening. Exciting news is that the book club has been growing, so there will now be three venues and hosts. Check out Activate on the website for details about the locations of the new venues, the book being read and how to contact Ope who leads Activate. For those who want to get ahead, the next book will be "Get Out of That Pit!" by Beth Moore.

I love reading , and have always got a variety of books on the go. I wasn't expecting any books for Christmas, so I bought myself a present (!) it's a very challenging book called "Boundaries" by Henry Cloud. Think it's going to be a bit of a landmark book - watch this space!

So, what are you reading at the moment? x

'Get Out Of That Pit' is an outstanding book. Solid biblically and downright practical & encouraging while giving a swift 'kick' where needed. Love it and love how Beth Moore brings incredible insight into areas of life where women in particular struggle. Great stuff! :0)

I've just starting reading 'All I need is Jesus and a good pair of Jeans' by Susanna Foth Aughtmon. It is recommended by Mark Batterson. I have only read the first 2 chapters but already absolutely love it! It grabbed me from the word go - a very frank insight into one lady's life. It has a sub-title of 'the tired supergirls' search for grace'. Says it all really - a window into the life of one very honest woman - her failings and frequent shortcomings as a wife, mother, friend and christian. Reassurance that we are all normal! Love it...

Guest Blog: Esther in Indonesia

I'm delighted to welcome Esther Ross-Watson to my Blog today! She is a dearly loved member of our Kerith family. She and her late husband Michael served as missionaries for many years. Esther bravely made the decision to travel again, and she has recently returned from Indonesia. Here's her story:

Whilst Michael was on his last days on earth in August 2017 he received a request from the Island of Madura, Indonesia asking us to return to the town of Pamekasen, Madura, Indonesia where we had begun our Missions work in July 1973 exactly one year after we were married. They were keen to have us see what God had been doing in the years since we’d moved on and we excitedly said ‘Yes’ we will come!Obviously that had to go on hold for a while because I didn’t feel I could, or even wanted to go alone!
Anyway around March/April time 2018, I begun to feel a gentle nudging of the Holy Spirit urging me to think some more about it! It was like a feeling of wanting to know for myself what had …

3 Little Bottles

Thought I'd mix it up today and do something lighthearted here.

I popped into town this morning (as an aside, anyone else still incredulous that "new Bracknell / The Lexicon is so great and that it's really here to stay?!)
Anyhow, I popped into town for a quick wander and bought 3 "essentials" I'd run out of, so I thought I'd share them with you - and of course I'd love to hear about your 3 recent essential purchases.

1 Contact lense solution
I've worn glasses since Secondary school, and contact lenses since I left Uni. Gas permeables - great for me - slightly perilous in swimming pools / the sea / other people's sinks (£80 to replace). They work for me - and so a couple of bottles of solution each month keep me going.I ran out a couple of days ago, so it was £4.70 well spent for clean lenses and clear eyesight.

2. "Buffet" by The Ordinary
This was a new one for me, a present I received last Christmas. I LOVE it and can't recommend i…

Paula's Encouragement

I love a podcast!
Podcasts get me through situations where time might drag, or perhaps I've got some time to myself - I'm think a bike work-out at the Gym; a long car journey; or food for my mind and soul whilst I'm cooking.

I've just got back from holiday, and having missed a couple of Sundays, I have caught up with Kerith podcasts, listening to three outstanding preaches from Ben Pocock and Ben Oliver in Bracknell; and Heather Pocock in Sandhurst - I found myself wanting to join in with a few loud "amens" this morning at the gym!

What about you? Let me know when and where do you listen to podcasts?

Our guest contributor today is the wonderful Paula Ridgway - with her large heart , great enthusiasm and infectious faith, she is such a huge blessing to many at Kerith.
Over to Paula for her encouragement to simply gather a few friends, to listen to a podcast together and then talk about it and see what God is saying.

"Podcasts are great if one misses out on a …
